Can I do Yoga and continue to follow my existing faith or religion?

While it is true that Yoga emerged as a set of practices in an Indian religious context, it is not wedded to any particular religious tradition. Yoga is not about adopting a particular set of beliefs, but about coming to “know” through your own experience. There is nothing in Yoga that competes with any religious orthodoxy or with any other system or belief. Yoga is a vehicle for growth and development that anyone can adopt to one’s own way of making life’s journey.

What do I bring to a class?

It is wise to check with individual teachers but generally speaking you will need to bring a sticky or yoga mat, a blanket to cover yourself and keep warm for the deep relaxation (savasana) at the end of class and perhaps a strap 3 to 4 feet in length.
